The appearance of lines and wrinkles on your face can have a heavy impact on your self-confidence, especially when your skin makes you appear older than you actually are. They’re an unfortunate impact of a variety of factors that are beyond your control, such as aging and overworked muscles. At Martinez Dentistry, we offer our patients a drink from the Fountain of Youth, otherwise known as BOTOX injections. This cosmetic treatment is a fast, safe, and effective way to turn back the clock on aging and restore your beautiful, youthful appearance.

The BOTOX Procedure

BOTOX is a cosmetic treatment that utilizes a bacteria called botulinum toxin. It freezes certain muscles in your face to temporarily reduce the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles caused by frowning and aging.

When you visit our office for your BOTOX treatment, we’ll begin by diluting the botulinum toxin in a saline solution. After learning what areas of your face you’d like to improve we’ll plan where the injections will be placed. Depending on how many you’d like, the treatment time can vary, but typically, each dose takes about five to 10 minutes to administer.

Before you leave our office, we’ll provide you with aftercare instructions to help you achieve the best results and avoid any discomfort or complications. For most patients, results last between four and six months. However, if it’s your first time receiving BOTOX treatment, they may begin to wear off sooner.

Good Candidates for BOTOX

If you’re unhappy with your creases, wrinkles, and lines, you can benefit from BOTOX injections. However, certain neuromuscular diseases, pregnancy, or skin disorders may prevent you from being a good candidate for the treatment. Typically, patients who receive the treatment are in their late 20s or older and are looking to fix certain cosmetic flaws, including:

  • Crow’s feet.
  • Lines between eyebrows.
  • Horizontal lines on forehead.
  • Lines around the mouth.

Benefits of BOTOX

Our patients who get BOTOX treatment get to enjoy several additional benefits besides boosted self-confidence. Some of these include:

  • Fast Results: BOTOX is often referred to by patients as a “lunchtime facelift” because the procedure can be completed in less than an hour in most cases. Results typically begin appearing for our patients in three to five days, allowing you to enjoy an improved appearance the very same week of your appointment.
  • Subtle Effects: Some of our patients worry that BOTOX will alter their physical appearance, making it look as though they’ve had “work done.” On the contrary, the injections will delicately improve the appearance of worn down skin and overworked muscles to restore your youthful glow.
  • No Surgery Needed: BOTOX doesn’t require scalpels or a recovery time but can achieve exquisite results.

The best way to learn whether BOTOX treatment is the right treatment for you is to contact our office or schedule a consultation. Our team of dental professionals will be more than happy to discuss the procedure with you and answer any questions you may have.

BOTOX® FAQs

Are you curious about BOTOX injections and wondering how long results last, whether the injection hurts, or whether you could benefit from the treatment? Our team at Martinez Dentistry is here to help! Below, we’ve collected some of the most common BOTOX-related questions that we receive from our patients, along with our answers, for your convenience.

Are BOTOX injections painful?

Nope! BOTOX injections really aren’t uncomfortable at all. They only take a few seconds to administer, and we use one of the smallest gauges of syringes. Most of our patients only report feeling a small poke, but that minimal discomfort quickly fades away after the injection has been administered.

When should I start getting BOTOX?

There’s really no magical age that people begin getting BOTOX injections. At Martinez Dentistry, we see everybody from people in their mid to late 20s, all the way to their 60s and beyond. It really just depends on your preference. If you’re on the fence about receiving BOTOX, you can always schedule a consultation with our experts and have them weigh-in with their opinion. Otherwise, it’s completely up to your wishes.

Do I need to prepare for my BOTOX treatment?

Before you come in for BOTOX injections, we recommend following these preparatory steps so you get the best possible results:

  • Stop consuming alcohol for at least a week before your appointment.
  • Stop taking blood-thinning medications like aspirin and ibuprofen.
  • Clean your face with a gentle cleanser and water to remove any dirt, makeup, and moisturizers.
  • Develop realistic expectations.

Does BOTOX have any side-effects?

After your treatment, you may experience some mild bruising, swelling, or tenderness at the injection site, but these should go away within a week. If you develop hives, itching, wheezing, or have difficulty breathing, you may have had an allergic reaction to the injections, in which case you should visit the ER.

Do BOTOX results look natural?

Yes! The best thing about BOTOX is that the results are subtle, natural-looking, and highly effective. Many people worry about coming in for treatment and leaving looking like they’ve had obvious “work done.” BOTOX simply minimizes the prevalence of fine lines and wrinkles, and when the process is performed by a professional, no one will ever be able to pinpoint that you’ve had BOTOX.

How many BOTOX injections will I need?

This depends on your personal preferences and desires. Each patient wants to minimize certain features, and before we make any injections, we’ll speak about what results you’d like to achieve and lay out a treatment plan, including how many injections it will take to get you there and where they will be administered. For example, it typically takes about three injections to address crow’s feet and five injections for frown lines.
